| Ladma’s World Service | ||||
| Friday 21st December 2007 | ||||
| We are happy to announce that the first episode of our World Service is now ready to be pushed into your ears. Please listen to it here. We also finished runner-up in the Best of Moviebar 2007 competition.
Apologies also for the apparent lack of action, we’ve been working on our audiocast and waiting to hear from Current TV. If you do see Current TV could you please tell them that we’re waiting and want to make some bloody films? Merry Christmas from all at Ladma Towers. |
||||
| Current TV Film Commission | ||||
| Wednesday 21st November 2007 | ||||
| Following a meeting with a producer from Current TV we’ve been commissioned to make three new films. We can’t go into too much detail at the moment (because we haven’t got a clue what we’re doing yet) but there will be a common theme throughout the three pieces. To narrow it down, they’ll probably feature characters we’ve already developed…or new ones. Who knows? Unfortunately, however, the deadline for the first film and associated workload means that we are unable to do Chubbyhorse in December.
In other news, we plan to record some audio sketches before Christmas so keep your ears open for them. |
||||
| Ladma the face of Current TV | ||||
| Sunday 4th November 2007 | ||||
| We are happy to announce that we have won Current TV’s Comedy Competition with our short film ‘Pet Hates’. This means that we – along with Al Gore – are now the face of Current TV. I expect we’ll probably have a meeting with Big Al soon at which time we’ll point out the irony of flying around the world in a private jet in order to raise awareness about climate change. It also means we win some money, will be on TV and have a commission for some more films. To watch ‘Pet Hates’ click here.
In other news, we’ve just got back from Hull Comedy Festival following a week of publicity culminating in the orgasmic climax of our show. Thanks to everyone who attended and also everyone involved with the festival – particularly John Gilbert. The gig went rather well and we’ll be posting a blog entry shortly which will go into more detail about the festival. |

Filming Complete on Current TV Rant
| Friday 21st September 2007 | ||||
| Last weekend we wrapped up filming for a three-minute short for Current TV’s Comedy Award. Our effort is a parody of the Channel Four idents where celebrity dickheads like Jamie Oliver and David Starkey say stuff like “I was fourteen when it happened, I didn’t really enjoy it”. This weekend we will be editing the film. If we don’t win the competition we’re putting it down to ourselves being too controversial and people not understanding our ‘art’. | ||||
| Sebastien Foucault Seals Best Comedy Award | ||||
| Wednesday 12th September 2007 | ||||
|
Sebastien Foucault scooped another accolade this month as it was awarded Best Comedy at the Cotswold Short Film Festival. Safe Blokes was also given the Gold Plus Diploma (the film equivalent of a GNVQ). Below are a selection of comments from the festival judges on both films.
Sebastien Foucault:
Safe Blokes:
Unfortunately, the trophy Ladma received (which may remind you of Sunday League Football) was inscribed ‘Lamda Comedy Group’. We are considering changing our name |

Look North! | |||
| Monday 6th August 2007 | ||||
| Having completed Look North! we have now made a flash player for the website. No longer will we have to rely on crappy Myspace and YouTube. See the results below. | ||||
| Ladma Scoop Award | ||||
| Wednesday 25th July 2007 | ||||
|
Sebastien Foucault picked up the Runner-Up award for Best Emerging Talent at this year’s Stamford Short Film Festival which was held last Saturday. As a result of the accolade, Seb Fou will be shown before mainstream features at Stamford Art Centre throughout their Autumn season.
In other news, Look North! has been completed and will be made available online next week. If you can’t wait until then, please watch the Ladma Showreel below which contains a brief trailer of Look North! It also contains trailers for Seb Fou, Safe Blokes and Deep Catalyst and is intended as a sort of ‘viral’ Ladma advert. |

| Thoughts of a Ladma | ||||
| Monday 9th July 2007 | ||||
|
Apologies to all those who have been constantly checking the website over the past month to see if Look North has been added. It hasn’t been added and it won’t be for a few weeks yet. Unfortunately, due to technological difficulties, we have only been able to start editing this weekend. Although it’s going well, don’t expect anything too soon.
But we haven’t been resting on our laurels. We’ve been planning, writing and recording the audiocast. We’ve also started the Ladma blog which will be updated more often than the news and will go into a little more detail about what we’ve been up to. Hopefully it’ll also be funny. The blog – entitled Thoughts of a Ladma – will be replacing the forum. The blog can be found under Words. Finally, Ladma will be performing at Hull Comedy Festival in November. More on that in the future. |

‘Look North’ in the can | |||
| Friday 8th June 2007 – Sunday 10th June 2007 | ||||
|
Following a long weekend of filming, Ladma have completed all the live footage for the new short – Look North. Look North is an educational travelogue which seeks to dispel the myths surrounding the North of England.
With only editing, voice-overs, music, sound and graphics to do, hopefully the film should be with you within the next month or so. |

| End of the Pier International Film Festival’s Opening Gala | ||||
| Saturday 28th April 2007 | ||||
Ladmas Chris, Dan and Pete yesterday attended the opening gala for the End of the Pier International Film Festival in Bognor Regis. Not only did they drown themselves in free champagne, gorge themselves on a free buffet and expose themselves on local television, but they also met famous directors such as Gillies MacKinnon and Ken Russell. Ken even sang us an old Sea Shanty about a penis.

VIDEO RESPONSES AND OTHER SHIT
| Sunday 22nd April 2007 | ||||
|
As you can probably tell we’ve been redesigning the website. We’ve also had various film screenings so thanks very much to everyone who turned up to them. Apologies to all those who’ve been clicking on the podcast page expecting to find a podcast. We’re actually in the process of writing it so keep your eyes (or rather ears) open for that. Also, we’ve been hard at work all week editing Deep Catalyst so that should be assaulting your eyes within the week. Finally, for those who are interested, a couple of spanners have posted video responses to Sebastien Foucault on YouTube. Check out their sad excuses for opinions below. |

| Monday 6th February 2007 | ||||
| The Director’s Cut of Sebastien Foucault (herein known merely as ‘Sebastien Foucault’ or ‘Seb Fou’ or ‘SF’) had its public premier yesterday at a short film night in Brighton called MovieBar. The night is held monthly at the Cornerstone Pub. The film got a good reception and Safe Blokes should be shown in April. | ||||

|
Safe Blokes has finally been finished and is available to watch online. It is a viducational guide to teach young men the truth about rape and is brought to you by Ladma in partnership with the charity RapeAid.
The film has already been entered into Myspace’s Mymovie Mashup competition. The myspace version can be viewed below. Again, please feel free to criticize, analyze and commentize our piece. If you feel you can’t swallow a whole mouthful of truth, why not view the Safe Blokes teaser which is available on our myspace? |

| Ladma bash out Safe Blokes | ||||
| Saturday 17th February 2007 | ||||
| Safe Blokes is now 99% done! All we need to do now is put in some jokes and film it. Expect it to be projected into your tiny brainal cavity within the week. It's an epic at over 14 minutes - so loosen your ass to accomodate it. | ||||

| Sebastien Foucault entered into Myspace’s Mymovie Mashup competition | ||||
| Wednesday 14th February 2007 | ||||
|
Sebastian Foucault has been entered into Myspace’s Mymovie Mashup competition. The prize for this competition is the chance to direct a feature film with a £1m budget. Despite the obvious financial constraints a £1m budget would bring, Ladma are more than happy to take the risk on such a small project.
Please feel free to watch, comment on, or nominate for feature our film. The myspace version can be viewed below. |

| Ladma hit by technical difficulties | ||||
| Tuesday 23rd January 2007 | ||||
| Disaster rocked the foundations of Ladma today as fire wiring problems meant planned editing work of Safe Blokes footage had to be delayed. Instead, time was spent downloading films about Hitler, cars, war and bodybuilding (different films that is, I’ve yet to find a film about the Fuhrer driving round in a Ford during the Blitz whilst pumping iron) in order to create an Eisenstein-esque ‘mantage’. Stay tuned to be learned what a ‘mantage’ is. | ||||

||||
| Filming ends (nearly) on new Ladma project | ||||
| Sunday 21st January 2007 | ||||
|
As filming days go, today’s was relatively eventful. Not only were the final scenes completed with Ladma’s special guest but the Ladma crew were also ejected from a dark alley by some douche bag who works for American Express. The fool doesn’t even realise we already had the footage we needed.
As usual, the Ladmas have left one more scene to be recorded. Why can’t they just learn to let go? The provisional title for the film is Safe Blokes. |

| Filming continues on new Ladma project | ||||
| Saturday 20th January 2007 | ||||
| As filming days go, today’s was relatively quiet. We spent most of the day filming a clock. Ladmas Christ, Key and Smythe had leak and potato bake for tea and, despite Smythe’s reservation regarding the inclusion of leaks, he was pleasantly surprised. | ||||

| Filming begins on new Ladma project | ||||

| Another weekend, another film. It’s about rape. Check out the goddamn pictures below to see what the hell happened. | ||||

| Crime 11 in the can | ||||
| Tuesday 16th January 2007 | ||||
|
Ladmas Christ, Key and Smythe were filming on location today at Brighton’s Marina. Perhaps you were one of the people who cycled past them, or perhaps you were the small dog which tried to attack them. Either way, the filming of Crime 11 is now complete. So get ready for some truth to be spunked into your ears.
Plans were also finalised for a new Ladma project which is due to be filmed this weekend. Rumour has it that it will feature a special guest star. Unconfirmed reports speculate that it is either Debbie King of Quizmania fame or Danielle Nicholls of being-an-annoying-kids-TV- presenter-in-the-mid-nineties fame. |

Please use the forum to give us any feedback. |

| More bloody media coverage of Sebastien Foucault | ||||
| Monday 4th December 2006 | ||||
|
The media hounding of Ladma continued unabated today as Sebastian Foucault appeared in an article for student paper The Badger. The piece featured the same photo as Bulletin except this time the publication contrived to attribute the still to the wrong team.
The article can be read here. Ladma holds no responsibility for the poor standards of journalism exhibited in the story and, indeed, many Ladmas are “noticeably uneasy” at the author’s decision to start a sentence with “Some of whom…”. |

| Media coverage of Sebastien Foucault | ||||
| Friday 1st December 2006 | ||||
|
Media coverage of the 36 Hour Film Rush appeared today in Bulletin. Sebastien Foucault was the main focus of the article and the inset picture featured the Ladma team (L-R: Ladma Key, Ladma Smythe, someone else, Ladma Christ and Ladma Christ’s brother).
The full article and accompanying picture can be ogled here. |

| Sebastien Foucault wins 36 Hour Film Rush | ||||
| Sunday 26th November 2006 | ||||
|
Following the screening of all entries in this year’s 36 Hour Film Rush, Ladma Films was announced as winner of the Jury Prize. Ladmas Christ, Key, Smythe and Christ’s brother collected the accolade on stage and received the £100 prize. They have decided to invest the prize-money into training Marxist guerrillas in West Africa.
The Film Rush itself was part of the Brighton Film Festival. Restrictions of the Rush require that all films are 5 minutes in length and that they feature a random prop and location. The random prop given to Ladma was a ‘typewriter’ and the location was ‘under a desk’. The Jury Prize was voted for by academics from the Media and Film departments at Sussex University and local film producers. The Audience Prize – as voted for by sycophantic students – went to Hell’s Kitchen which featured a man having a swift wank. Ironically, the wank also took place under a desk. |

| Eve of 36 Hour Film Rush | ||||
| Friday 24th November 2006 | ||||
|
Over the coming weekend a Ladma team will be competing in the 36 Hour Film Rush as part of Brighton Film Festival. Tomorrow morning, Ladma, along with 14 other teams, will be given a random prop and location. They will then have 36 hours to write, film, edit and produce a short film of 5 minutes. The randomosity of the prop and location is designed to prevent the formulation of preconceived ideas. This should not be a problem for Ladma as they plan to rape Ladma Key with the random prop in the random location.
This weekend’s Ladma team consists of Ladma Christ, Ladma Key, Ladma Smythe and Ladma Christ’s brother (James). For all those interested in coming to see the final product on a big screen, it will be shown at the Gardeners Arts Centre, Brighton, at 20:00 on Sunday. |

| Trailer for Crime 11 | ||||
| Thursday 23rd November 2006 | ||||

| Filming (almost) complete for Crime 11 | ||||
| Sunday 19th November 2006 | ||||
|
This weekend Ladmas Christ, Key and Smythe completed 4 hours of film for new feature Crime 11. Crime 11 is a polemic rendered into film form which seeks to uncover the truth of the attacks on America in 2001.
In spite of having over 4 hours of footage complete and over an hour of audio, there is still much filming and voice-over work to do. Hence, sadly, it will be some time before people know the truth. |
||||
| ‘The Adventures of Maslo and Ted’ | ||||
| Friday 3rd November 2006 | ||||
| Ladmas Christ, Key and Smythe were today in the studio (Ladma Christ’s bedroom) doing audio work for Ladma Christ’s animated fable The Adventures of Maslo and Ted. The animations are now in a post-production stage and we aim to bring them to your minds as soon as possible. | ||||
