SQUEAKY BUM TIME
Wednesday 5th August 2009
Tomorrow we make our way up to Edinburgh with our brand new live show ‘Jack Offline’. It’s a dark sitcom which mixes live action and filmed segments. It’s been produced and directed by the mighty Jan Jung of ScreenPlay Productions. Anyway, we won’t be able to update the website when we’re away, so please keep an eye on the blog for any urgent news/reviews/musings.

Meanwhile, take a look at a teaser from the show. You can also check out the programme if you’re totally fucking bored.

New Live Show - Jack Offline
Sunday 5th July 2009

We’re back at the Edinburgh Fringe this August with our brand new live show ‘Jack Offline’. The show is a live adaptation of our mockumentary sitcom ‘Jackwert’ and is produced in cooperation with ScreenPlay Productions.

‘Jack Offline’ provides a disturbing insight into the dysfunctional lives of socially inept Jackwert, dim-wit brother Grant, and Mum’s new boyfriend, Craig 'Piss Pants' Johnson. Join them as they present some really enviable family values and pose the questions: Will Jackwert get rid of Craig and return his lifesavings before Mum finds out? Will Craig get his demo made before Grant turns psycho? And will Mum ever get the chance to try out her new Sperminator dildo? The answers are dubious and highly distasteful – as usual.

For show details, make your way over to the gigs page. We’ve also got loads of new videos on the clips page – so please check em out.

Jack and Grant Debut on Current TV
Thursday 14th May 2009

We are happy to announce that our mini-series, Jackwert, is now scheduled to appear on Current TV as a half-hour special. That’s all three episodes back-to-back! For some reason they’re calling the show "Download & Dirty ;-)". Current don’t programme far in advance so here are the current scheduled screenings:

Friday 15th May @ 21:00
Monday 25th May @ 21:30
Sunday 31st May @ 21:00

Current can be seen on Sky 183 and Virgin 155. We also have a whole host of new shorts on the clips page to keep you entertained.

In other news, Ambleton Delight won Best UK Feature 2009 at the End of the Pier International Film Festival despite our involvement.

LONG TIME NO SEE

Preparations are well under way for our show at this year’s Edinburgh Fringe Festival. Just like last year we’re performing at PBH’s Free Fringe at the Beehive Inn. We’re now sitting on a shit load of new material which needs refining, performing and throwing straight in the bin. But hopefully some of it will make it through to this year’s show. And then be put in the bin.

The first episode of Jackwert has finally made its way onto Current TV and we’re assured the rest is yet to come. We’ve also had our first BBC credit on BBC Northern Ireland’s Teethgrinder. Along with that, we’ve been working on a feature film with Parkes Productions, Ambleton Delight, which has been great fun (acting, not writing). Check out the still above courtesy of Parkes Productions Ltd/Ferguson Pictures. It’s due to open the End of the Pier International Film Festival in April.

And finally, check out the trailer for our new film. It’s not going too far, is it?

More New Stuff
Thursday 1st January 2009
We have finally uploaded all three Jackwert episodes to this very website. Check them out on the films page. Other than that we have been busy writing and performing new live material. Thanks to everyone who came to the Fix Presents: The Future of Sketch comedy gig in December. It was good fun but we won't be dressing up as women again in the near future as we tend to get confused and try to kiss each other.
New Stuff
Sunday 5th October 2008
We have rejigged the site to add more content and give us the ability to expand it a bit more in the future. Our plan is to upload more short clips on a regular basis so you always have something new to see. To kick start this off we have added two new Pet Hates clips made up from unused footage. Check it out on the all new clips page.
Edinburgh Fringe and Other Shit
Wednesday 10th September 2008
So we’re back tired and exhausted after Edinburgh. Thanks very much to everyone who came along to see the show. Thanks also to new converts who might be checking the website after seeing us in Scotland – please keep checking back. Big thanks also to PBH and the Free Fringe.

Anyway, we had a great time up in Edinburgh and got a four star review from Three Weeks (see below). Things also seem to be going well on the Jackwert front – Current T.V have been really enthusiastic and it looks as though we’re going to be the first people from the UK to get a half-hour special on the channel. We can also confirm that we’re going to be doing Hull Comedy Festival in a double-bill with the delightful Scarlet Lights on October 29th. So hopefully see some of you there. Here is the Edinburgh review in full:

Ladma vs. The World
Get rid of that archaic 'it's free so don't expect much' attitude; this is gold, and it's lying about in a stuffy little room above a pub on the Grassmarket. This show features films (not your standard grainy shot-from-a-mobile YouTube variety, but skilfully produced television-worthy ones) and sketches with a bit of banter. I'm not one for hysterics, but the film about pet hates had me in fits, and my only criticism is that people were laughing so hard they blotted out some of the jokes. A Southerner's take on 'the North' produced some priceless mockumentary genius, while the live element of the show, featuring a scarily believable life coach sketch amongst others, is well executed. Highly recommended free comedy.

Jackwert Finished!
Monday 14th July 2008
We have (at last) completed our commission for Current TV! Jackwert is in the can and edited. We’re currently in discussions with Current regarding the films but, as soon as that’s sorted and we’ve got clearance, they should be up on the website. But this might not be until after Edinburgh.

Until then, why not check out our YouTube channel? We’ve re-launched the channel to showcase shorter clips and unseen footage. The video below is something we cobbled together from unused footage from Deep Catalyst. Keep an eye on YouTube for a sneak preview of Jackwert. Also, sadly, our London preview of the Edinburgh show has been cancelled.

Live Gigs
Sunday 1st June 2008
Preparations are well under way for our run at the Edinburgh Festival. We have previews coming up in Manchester, London and Brighton so please check out the gigs page to see if you can come along. We’re hoping to confirm our return to Hull Comedy Festival soon too. Brighton Fringe went well and it was nice to finally get some feedback on the show. See the blog for our thoughts on how the show went.

In other news, we’re hoping to continue work on Jackwert around the live stuff. At the very latest, that should be up by the end of July.

Brighton Fringe Festival and Current TV
Tuesday 25th March 2008
Pet Hates is currently being shown on Current TV (Sky channel 193 or Virgin 155). Well actually if you want to see it you can just watch below. Although you don't get a really trendy presenter telling you what it is if you do. For some reason they have decided to call it "The Funny Haters". Probably because we are such good actors that people have to be told it's not real.

We have also rejigged the audio page. Now it's easier to navigate to what you want to listen to. There are one or two more clips to play as well. If all that doesn't satisfy your Ladma urges then come and see us live. Tickets are now out for our Brighton Fringe show Ladma vs. The World. Come to that.

Lots of new things
Saturday 1st March 2008
We have been very busy filming, organising our live show and performing a number of smaller but important admin tasks. Because of this hard work we have loads of gigs coming up in Brighton, Manchester and of course Edinburgh so keep checking out our gigs page for one near you. Alternatively you can join the all new Ladma Facebook group to be kept up to date. Our aim is to get over 4 members by the end of the year.

We have also completed filming our mini-series for Current TV. Below is a scene from one episode that won’t appear in the final cut. You are very lucky.

New Films
Thursday 31st January 2008
We’ve almost completed writing our series for Current TV. Filming will commence in a matter of weeks. It is based on a short we made when half drunk on love for each other. To whet your whistle here is that short.
